Prescribing alert

A prescribing alert is a warning shown to a clinician when a system detects a potential issue with a prescription, such as a known allergy, a drug interaction, a contraindication or a dosing concern.

Not all alerts behave the same way. Some are advisory, appearing as a dismissible notice; others are hard alerts that block the prescription from being issued until the clinician changes it. The distinction matters more than whether alerts exist at all.
