How it works
What happens between "type" and "signed".
Four steps, in the order they happen during a consultation. Each one closes a specific gap, and all of it happens in the same pane you write the note in.

Type, and dm+d resolves the molecule
Search resolves your input against the NHS dictionary of medicines and devices as you type. Branded and generic options, available forms and strengths, whether items are available on private prescription, and it handles common misspellings.

Step 2
Record the medicines you don't manage
Most patients arrive with medication prescribed elsewhere: hospital clinics, their NHS GP, online services. Record it as externally managed and it sits on the record and feeds every safety check, while staying clearly marked as prescribed elsewhere. Nothing double-issued, nothing invisible.

Step 3
Allergies and interactions checked against the record
Before you can issue, Jump surfaces interactions with current medication, allergy alerts including related substances, and contraindications from recorded conditions. Hard alerts block issuing until you cancel or record a clinical override; the rest are advisory. The patient's history is the rules engine, not a generic drug-class lookup.

Step 4
Signed and sent to the pharmacy
Prescriptions prepared by the wider team route to a clinician with prescribing rights - role-based permissions decide who can authorise, and nothing is issued without that sign-off. The prescriber signs once (SignatureRx adds a 6-digit prescriber PIN) and the prescription goes electronically to the patient's chosen partner pharmacy - SignatureRx, CloudRx, Roseway or Healistic - for collection or delivery. Dispensing status flows back from most partners: dispatched, tracked, delivered. Prefer paper? Print the signed A4 script instead. Either way, a PDF copy is stored in the record.

Jump tracks NHSBSA releases of dm+d, so new and withdrawn medicines are reflected shortly after each release. The data version in use is shown at the top of the prescribing pane.
Before a prescription can be issued, Jump shows any relevant safety information: interactions with current medication, allergy alerts including related substances, and contraindications from recorded conditions. Hard alerts (an allergy or contraindication match) block issuing until you either cancel or record a clinical override with a written justification, which is kept in the audit trail. Advisory alerts can be acknowledged and continued past.
Repeat authorisations carry review dates. Jump alerts you when a repeat is due for review and tracks when prescriptions are collected or delivered, so ongoing medication is never continued indefinitely without a clinician looking at it.
