Patient recall

A patient recall is a scheduled reminder that a patient is due for a specific piece of follow-up, such as a medication review, a monitoring test or an annual check, generated automatically from clinical criteria rather than manually tracked.

The most useful recall systems mark a recall as fulfilled automatically when the patient attends, and reopen it if they don't, so the responsibility doesn't just disappear into a spreadsheet or someone's memory.
