Case study · Private GP practice

MK18 Medical leaves Semble for a system that keeps shipping.

A Buckingham private GP practice that grew from two days a week to full time moved off Semble in February 2026, for software that adds something new every fortnight and support that comes back quickly rather than in weeks.

The practice

MK18 Medical

MK18 Medical opened near Buckingham in November 2018, running just a couple of days a week. As demand grew the practice added a day at a time, and in January 2023 it went full time. Three clinicians now see patients of any age, for any problem - most health issues are handled in house, and where they cannot be, the practice refers into a wide network of trusted healthcare professionals.

What MK18 is known for locally is its tone. Consultations are meant to feel more like a chat with the clinician than a formal appointment: a friendly, slightly more informal approach to healthcare, while still identifying and handling the problem efficiently.

The practice ran on Semble before switching, and went live on Jump in February 2026.

Existing pain points

What was slowing MK18 Medical down.

  1. A system that did the basics and stopped there

Semble was a fairly basic system. It let the practice operate day to day, but never provided any extra features that could help as MK18 grew.

  2. Queries that took weeks to come back

With Semble being such a large organisation, any issues or queries the practice raised could take weeks to be responded to - and the responses were always very generic.

  3. Reporting the team could not get answers out of

Chasing unpaid invoices meant working around a confusing reporting module, and there was no way to message patients directly from the system.

How Jump has helped

What changed after switching to Jump.

  1. New features every week or two

The biggest difference is the constant updates and the ambition to keep upgrading the system - every week or two there is a new feature to use and explore. Everything that ships is listed in the release notes.

  2. The whole consultation in one window

Clinicians issue prescriptions, order blood tests and create invoices without leaving the consultation, instead of moving between separate parts of the system.

  3. Support you can reach from inside the product

The support centre takes tickets directly, rather than the practice filling in an enquiry form and waiting to hear back. Most things get covered quickly after a request goes in.

  4. Chasing invoices became a short job

Jump's reporting lists every outstanding invoice, and payment reminders go out to those patients from the record. The same chase on the old system would have taken a lot longer.

  5. Practice numbers in one place

The reporting section links up with Stripe, so the data surrounding the practice can be seen without leaving Jump.

  6. A migration that was fixed as it went

MK18 was one of the first practices to move to Jump, and one of the first major migrations. A formatting mismatch between Semble and Jump left gaps in the initial data transfer. The ongoing, responsive tech support through the process meant every issue was dealt with in a timely manner.

Today

Running on Jump.

Day to day, the diary and check-in run through Jump's calendar, where checking a patient in or rescheduling an appointment happens in a side panel rather than a separate screen. Consultations are written into the consultation note, with prescribing, blood tests and invoicing all reachable from that same window. Payment runs on Stripe and feeds reporting directly, and reminders and updates go to patients from the record. When the team needs help, it goes in as a ticket from inside Jump.

An all round more efficient experience - thanks in particular to Gus and the tech support team.
