Ask Skip about your figures and keep the chart

Last updated: 13 October 2026

Overview

Every reporting dashboard has an Ask Skip bar at the top. Ask a question about that area in your own words, such as how many appointments each clinician had last month, and Skip answers with a chart or a table. If the chart is worth keeping, add it to the dashboard and it stays there, up to date.

Ask Skip is available to practices that have Skip switched on. Skip only ever shows you figures your own permissions let you see.

Asking a question

  1. Open Reporting and go to the dashboard for the area you're interested in, for example Appointments or Finance.
  2. Type your question into the Ask Skip bar, or click one of the example questions under it.
  3. Skip opens with its answer: a chart or a table you can sort.

Figures such as outstanding invoices, open tasks or active patients are counted as they stand now, the same way the dashboard tiles count them.

Keeping the chart

Click Add to the dashboard under Skip's chart, for example Add to Tasks dashboard. The chart is added to that dashboard.

Jump keeps the question behind the chart, not a snapshot of its numbers, so the chart stays up to date. A chart over time follows the dashboard's own period and filters. A figure such as open tasks is counted as it stands now.

Changing a kept chart

Click the Open icon at the top right of a kept chart. You can see the question it answers, its period, when it was added and its history of changes. From there:

  • Edit chart to change what it shows.
  • Edit with Skip to refine it in words. Skip offers Replace to swap the new version in. The Skip icon beside Open on the chart does the same.
  • Remove from dashboard to take it off.

Good to know

  • Every chart on a dashboard has Expand, and you can download the figures as a CSV.
  • "Last 7 days" and other "last N days" periods include all of today.
