A membership is a recurring plan a patient pays for. It runs as a subscription on your own Stripe account, so renewals and failed payments are handled by Stripe.
Memberships are billed through your practice's own Stripe account. If Stripe is not connected, you can still build plans, but a sale will stop at the payment step. Connect it before you start selling.
Go to Configuration → Billing & Finance → Memberships and click New plan. A plan needs:
You can order your plans, so they read as tiers rather than alphabetically.
There are four benefits:
| Benefit | What it does |
|---|---|
| Member discount | The patient qualifies for a discount you configure, applied as a Stripe coupon. |
| Members-only appointments | The patient can book appointment types you have reserved for members. |
| Members-only forms | The patient can submit forms you have reserved for members. You can reserve a form for specific plans. |
| Member | Shows on the patient's record. Grants nothing on its own. |
Reserving an appointment type for members is done on the appointment type itself, under its booking rules. Reserving a form is done on the form link.
Each plan has a badge with a colour, an icon and text of your choosing. It appears on the patient card, so whoever picks up the phone can see they are a member.
Open the patient, go to Memberships, and choose Create membership. You pick the plan, when it starts, any discount, and how it is collected:
When you edit a plan, we show how many live memberships it affects before you save, so you are not silently changing what paying patients are entitled to.
The status you see is Stripe's status. If a payment fails, or a patient cancels in Stripe, that is reflected here without anyone re-keying it. A membership also shows when Stripe will cancel it, so your own dunning settings do not surprise you.
