How to Resume a Draft Consultation

Consultations are saved automatically as drafts. You can close the browser and return later without losing work.

Finding Your Drafts

Draft consultations appear in several places:

  • Patient sidebar - the patient card shows open drafts with the primary problem, consultation medium, and time since last update
  • Patient Summary tab - draft consultations are listed prominently at the top
  • Consultation history - a banner at the top shows any open draft with a Continue button
  • Starting a new consultation - if a draft exists, an alert offers to Continue the existing draft or Discard it

Draft Status Indicator

While editing a draft, the wizard footer shows:

  • The draft ID
  • The last save time (auto-saves after each change)

Old Draft Warning

Drafts older than 7 days are flagged as an Old Draft. This is a reminder to either complete or discard consultations that may have been forgotten.

Continuing a Draft

Click Continue from any of the locations above. The consultation opens at the Clinical Record step with all your previous work preserved.

Discarding a Draft

Click Discard to permanently delete the draft. A confirmation dialog appears. This action cannot be undone.

Draft Persistence

Drafts are saved to the server, not just the browser. You can:

  • Close and reopen the browser
  • Switch devices
  • Return days later

The draft will be waiting for you.

Tip: Check for old drafts regularly. An unfinished consultation may contain clinical data that needs to be finalised or discarded.
