Overview
When prescribing medication, Jump EHR automatically checks for known drug-drug interactions against the patient's current medications. If an interaction is detected, an alert is displayed before you confirm the prescription.
How It Works
- When you add a medication to the prescribing basket, Jump checks it against the patient's active medications
- If an interaction is found, a colour-coded alert appears:
- Red (Severe) — a clinically significant interaction that may require avoiding the combination
- Amber (Moderate) — an interaction that may require dose adjustment or monitoring
- Yellow (Mild) — a minor interaction to be aware of
- Each alert includes clinical guidance explaining the nature of the interaction
Reading the Alerts
Alerts are grouped by medication so you can quickly see which drugs are involved. If multiple interactions are detected, you can expand or collapse individual alerts to manage the information.
Important Notes
- Alerts are advisory — clinical judgement should always be applied
- The interaction database covers common drug-drug interactions but may not include every possible combination
- If you believe an alert is incorrect or missing, please raise a support ticket
