Viewing Lab Results

Lab results appear in the patient's Investigations tab once they have been received from a lab provider and filed to the patient.

How to Get There

Open a patient record and navigate to Clinical Record > Investigations, then select the Results tab.

Results List

Each result shows:

  • Test group name (e.g. Full Blood Count, Liver Function)
  • Date received
  • Abnormal flag - an orange alert triangle if any value is outside the reference range
  • Panel count - how many individual tests are in the group (e.g. "3 panels - Haematology")

Click a result to expand it and see the individual test values.

Reading Individual Results

Each test value displays:

  • Test name - the specific investigation
  • Value - the result
  • Units - the unit of measurement (e.g. mmol/L, g/dL)
  • Reference range - the expected normal range (e.g. 3.5 - 5.0)
  • Abnormal flag - highlighted if the value falls outside the reference range

View Modes

Toggle between two display modes:

  • Rich view - results grouped by department or test group, with colour-coded abnormal indicators
  • Classic view - all results in a flat table format

PDF Reports

Two PDF options are available:

  • View PDF - opens the original lab report as received from the provider
  • Generate Jump PDF - creates a branded PDF with your organisation's logo and details

For results that are tracked over time (e.g. HbA1c, cholesterol, eGFR), click the Trend button to view a chart of historical values. This helps identify patterns and monitor treatment effectiveness.

Result Statuses

Status Meaning
Received Result has arrived from the lab
Unread Result is matched to a patient but not yet reviewed
Read Result has been viewed by a clinician
Filed Result has been filed to the patient record

Tip: Use the abnormal flag indicators to quickly identify results that need clinical attention. Results outside the reference range are highlighted automatically.
