Using the Patient Summary

The Summary tab is the default view when you open a patient record. It provides a quick overview of recent activity and one-click access to common actions.

Quick Actions

At the top of the Summary tab, up to six action buttons provide fast access to frequent tasks:

  • Create Consultation - start a new consultation for this patient
  • Send Message - open the message composer
  • Create Invoice - generate a new invoice
  • Create Letter - create a clinical document

The available actions and their order are configurable per organisation.

Draft Consultations

If the patient has any open draft consultations, they appear prominently at the top. Click a draft to resume editing.

Recent Consultations

The most recent completed consultations (up to three) are shown with their date, clinician, and a summary of the problems discussed.

Open Tasks

Any tasks assigned to or about this patient are listed with their status and priority.

Activity Feed

The bottom section shows a chronological feed of recent patient activity. Filter by:

  • Clinical - consultations, observations, medications, and other clinical events
  • Administrative - appointments, invoices, communications
  • All - everything in one timeline

Tip: The Summary tab is designed to give you the full picture of a patient in seconds. Check it before every consultation to see outstanding tasks, recent changes, and draft consultations waiting for you.
