Sync your Jump diary to Google Calendar

Last updated: 24 September 2026

Calendar sync copies your Jump appointments into your own Google Calendar, so you can see your working day on your phone without opening Jump.

What leaves Jump

The time, and nothing else by default. Each appointment appears as a block titled Booked. Your Google Calendar never receives:

  • the patient's name or initials
  • the reason for the appointment, or any clinical detail
  • the location, or any link

You can optionally add the appointment type to the title, so a block reads Booked - Annual Health Check instead of Booked. That is off unless you turn it on, and it is set per diary.

One way, by design

Jump is the source of truth for bookings. Changes you make in Google Calendar are not sent back to Jump, and nothing in your external calendar affects what patients can book. Deleting a block in Google does not cancel the appointment.

What Jump can see in your Google account

Jump asks only for permission to manage calendars it creates itself. It cannot read or change your existing calendars, including your personal one.

When you connect a diary, Jump makes a new calendar in your account named after that clinician, and writes only to that.

Turning it on

Calendar sync is a beta feature, so someone with settings access enables it once for the practice:

  1. Go to Settings → Jump Beta.
  2. Turn on Calendar sync.

That does not share anybody's diary. Each person then connects their own.

Connecting your diary

  1. Open Preferences from the menu at the bottom of the sidebar.
  2. Go to the Security tab and find the Google account card.
  3. If you have not connected Google before, choose Connect Google and sign in. This can be your own account or a shared practice one, but whoever owns it has to complete the sign-in themselves.
  4. Choose Connect a diary and pick the clinician whose diary you want to mirror.

Your appointments start appearing in Google within a minute or two. By default Jump sends the next eight weeks and keeps that window rolling forward. You can change it to four weeks, twelve weeks or six months.

You do not need any special permissions to connect your own diary.

Connecting somebody else's diary

The same Connect a diary picker lets you choose any clinician in the practice, so a practice manager can mirror several diaries into one calendar.

This puts that clinician's appointments into your Google account. If you want them in theirs, they need to connect it themselves. Consent cannot be given on somebody's behalf.

Stopping it

In the same card, use the disconnect control next to a diary. Jump stops writing to it immediately. Your Google account stays connected, and any other diaries you are mirroring carry on.

If something looks wrong

  • A diary shows "Re-consent" - Google has withdrawn Jump's permission, usually because the password changed or access was revoked. Reconnect from the same card.
  • A diary shows "Failing" - Jump could not write to Google on the last attempt. If it does not clear on its own, disconnect and reconnect.
  • Blocks are missing further ahead - check the window on the connection. Appointments beyond it are sent as the window rolls forward.
