How to Reschedule an Appointment
Move a confirmed appointment to a different date or time without cancelling and rebooking.
How to Reschedule
- Open the appointment from the Appointments list or the Calendar
- Click the Reschedule action (available in the three-dot menu or the appointment sidebar)
- In the dialog, you will see the current date and time
- Select a new date and time using the datetime picker
- Choose a reason for rescheduling
- Click Confirm
Rescheduling Reasons
You must select a reason from the following options:
- Patient requested
- Clinician unavailable
- Scheduling conflict
- Emergency
- Late cancellation by patient
- Rebooking after no-show
- Clinical need
- Administrative error
- Other (with a free-text field to specify)
What Happens After
- The appointment moves to the new time
- The patient receives a rescheduling notification (if configured)
- The original time slot becomes available again
- The change is recorded in the appointment's audit timeline
Validation
The system checks that:
- The new time respects the appointment type's minimum notice period
- The clinician is available in the new slot
- The new time falls within the allowed advance booking window
