Some sessions don't run to appointment times. A clinician works through a list of call-backs over the morning, visits patients at home across an afternoon, or sees a theatre list in order. An untimed session is built for this. Instead of slots, it has a number of places. Each patient booked takes one place, and is told a window ("we'll call you between 10:00 and 14:00") or an arrival time ("arrive at 08:30"), never an appointment time nobody will keep.
Untimed sessions are a Jump Labs feature. If you can't see the Untimed option, ask us to switch it on for your practice.
Set up a list
- Open the Calendar, click Actions, then New session. To change an existing session, open it from Configuration → Scheduling → Availability → Sessions. For a list that runs every week, create a schedule from the Schedules tab instead.
- Choose the clinician, the date and the start and end times. The list runs across that whole window.
- Under Delivery, choose how patients are seen:
- In clinic for a theatre or clinic list.
- Home visit for a visiting round.
- Remote for a call-back list. Remote places on a list are always phone calls. Video isn't offered, because a video call needs a set time.
- Check the Bookable types: the appointment types patients can book onto the list. Once you choose Untimed with Remote, only phone types are offered, and they are ticked for you. If you untick them all, you'll see "No phone types selected - nobody can book this list".
- Under Booking, choose Untimed.
- Optionally give it a List name, such as "Morning call-backs". Only staff see it, in the diary. Left blank, Jump names it from how it's delivered: "Call-back list", "Home visit list", "Arrival list" or "Walk-in list".
- Set the Capacity: how many patients the list can hold.
- Under What patients are told, choose The session window (a call or visit some time between the start and end) or An arrival time (everyone is asked to arrive at one time, with no promised appointment time).
Once patients are booked onto a list, it can't be switched back to timed, and its capacity can't go below the number already booked. Move or cancel the bookings first, or create a new session.
See a list in the diary
A list shows in the diary as one block with its name and how full it is, for example "Morning call-backs · 3/4 · 1 left". Click the block to open the list view, where patients are shown in order.
Book a patient onto a list
- From the patient's record: click Book appointment, choose the type and how they'll be seen. Lists appear alongside timed slots, showing the window and the places left, for example "3 of 3 left".
- From the diary: open the list and use Add patient.
Jump won't book a patient twice onto the same list ("Already on this list"), or onto a list with no places left ("This list is full").
What patients see
Patients can book a place online when the list's type is on one of your booking links. They're shown the window or arrival time, not a slot:
- Call-back list: "We'll call you between 10:00 and 14:00. The exact time isn't fixed."
- Home visit: "We'll visit you between 10:00 and 14:00."
- Arrival list: "Please arrive at 08:30."
Their confirmation email, reminders and patient portal use the same wording.
